A season pass to this August 1-4 event is the best bargain of the summer. Passes, which must be purchased in advance, allow admission to all four days of the fair and include the fair rodeos and concerts. Daily admission includes admission to the day’s rodeo and concerts.
The first fair in Yamhill County was held October 7, 1854, in Lafayette. Later the fair was moved to its present location on 30 acres off Highway 99W in McMinnville.
Sponsored by the Yamhill County Agricultural Society, the event in its early years featured bed quilts, butter, cheese, vegetables, cattle, sheep, hogs, farm implements, horses and mules. The event continues to celebrate top agriculture and farming efforts in the county and has grown to one of the area’s biggest summertime events, featuring famous singers and bands and one of the state’s biggest carnivals.
